Dragon Ball Super Director Comments On Red Ribbon Army’s New Design

Dragon Ball Super: Super heroes brings back one of the oldest villain collectives in the shonen series, with new androids ready to battle the Z-Fighters. With the latest Anime Japan event focusing on anime franchises such as Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventureand many more, the upcoming animated film got the chance to host its own panel, with the film’s director taking the opportunity to break down the new look of the criminal organization set to make a big comeback.

Kodama went into detail about the Red Ribbon Army’s new headquarters to begin with, explaining why it looks like an amusement park and detailing the work done by series creator Akira Toriyama:

“We developed the image based on the concept art drawn by Toriyama-Sensei, and added various elements. In this image, there is a large crater in a mountainous area, and a park-like city is built there. The concept is that the Red Ribbon Army actually resides here. Located in a valley, the image is of a place with fewer roads, making it difficult to use automobiles. Basically, the valley is traversed by a monorail.

While the new version of the Red Ribbon Army will see new androids appear in the form of Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 to take on Gohan and Piccolo, Kodama also went into more detail about how the criminal organization’s original appearance should make an appearance in the film:

“We defined the ‘classic’ concept for the planes seen in the film as in the original manga. In this film, the combat vests and flying bikes will also appear with the same design as the Red Ribbon Army that appeared in the previous episodes. We’ve taken care to create a design that doesn’t look out of place when mixed with these new mechs. We’ve also improved a lot of things in terms of functionality! Capacity has been increased and cargo space has been increased. been created. the bottom allows for vertical take-off and landing.”
