WhatsApp group polls, app language features likely on cards

|

Recently, WhatsApp has been making headlines for launching new features like Communities, expanded support for 32 members in group voice calls, and more. Now the app has rolled out another feature that has been rumored for some time. Well, the discussion is about the possibility of hosting polls in group chats that allow users to share their views with other group members.

Polls in WhatsApp groups

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is preparing a new group polls feature. This feature is designed to allow users to create polls within WhatsApp groups and share them with other members. The report has also shared a screenshot of the same on its blog and gives users a preview of what the feature will look like.

The group polls screenshot shows that a poll will appear as a message in the group chat. Unlike a normal text message, group members will have several options to choose from in a poll. Additionally, there will be a Vote button at the end of the post for them to vote or share their opinion. Additionally, the report notes that all of a poll’s options and user responses will be protected with end-to-end encryption, which means that other members of the group or WhatsApp can see user responses.

Currently, the WhatsApp Group Polls feature is under development and it remains to be seen when the feature will roll out to beta users of the Android and iOS versions of the app. Subsequently, it will be widely rolled out to all users.

In a separate report, it was stated that WhatsApp was working on bringing a new feature allowing users around the world to choose the language of the app of their choice. The blog notes that the App Language feature will be available to all global users with the beta version of WhatsApp for Android version 2.22.9.13. Notably, users can select the language from the Settings menu and there are inclusions such as Urdu, Azerbaijan, and Afrikaans among others.
